Actions of Consequence made the shortlist for The Anamorphosis Prize. The prize was established to promote excellence, dialogue and excitement in the field of self-published photobooks and photo-based artist books. The jurors are Anouk Kruithof, John A, Plelan, and Charlotte Cotton. Self-publishing is creatively liberating. The most interesting and daring developments often occur on the margins. Allowing greater control over a creative vision and expression, self-publishing drives revolutionary change within the orbit of the photobook culture and enables the artist to autonomously sculpt a vocation.
Actions of Consequence is part of the Burning with Pleasure exhibition curated by Archipelago Project, presenting works by artists engaging with the status of images in contemporary culture within the form of the book. The exhibition brings together 60 books, some self-published, some from small publishers, and some still in dummy form. Selected over recent months, they come from Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, the US, and the UK. The exhibition showcases original artists' books and aims to provide a platform for publications that have little exposure within the traditional book distribution network. Held at the Curious Duke Gallery, London.
